Great write up. I lived with a poor family in Saran along the Ganges for a few weeks in 2013 doing clean cookstove research. Bihar is a wild place.

Another akash with Bihari roots* doing start-up-y things?? I guess when you have 1.4 billion people, the # of possible combinations of names x occupations aren’t that high

*Technically half my family is from the state immediately south of Bihar, but that state was a part of Bihar only a few decades ago ago

Resonated with the summer I spent in Lucknow, didn’t realize 10 years hence they had replaced the man powered rickshaw with electric

Really liked this. I'm from India and have lived in the US for the last few years. I wrote about my observations on seeing my hometown in India in a new light, now having lived outside the country; I think some of these might resonate with you too: https://siddhesh.substack.com/p/culture-shock-2
